This weekend we finally got out in the garden. It had been taken over by weeds so we had some fun getting rid of those. Lilly enjoyed herself watching us from the side.

Visit up north
We went on our first long trip with Lilly. At two months old we went to Washburn to visit Grandma and Grandpa Davis and then we went to Minnesota to visit Grandma and Grandpa Jacobson and Aunt Amanda and Uncle Andy. Lilly did great in the car. She slept while we were driving and started to wake up every time we stopped which worked out perfect for feeding and getting a clean diaper.
After we left Washburn we headed to Duluth for the day. We were able to stop by a couple breweries and enjoyed a nice walk on the Lake Walk. We enjoyed the rest of our week at Tony's parents house. We got to stop by Amanda and Andy's and Lilly met her first dogs. On Friday Grandma and Grandpa Jacobson babysat Lilly for the day so Tony and I could go to the movie and have dinner with some friends. I was crying by the time we got in the car but I got better as the day went on. It was good practice for me for when Lilly starts daycare.
Our trip was pretty uneventful as well. Lilly did great the whole time we were gone and we all really enjoyed ourselves. Hopefully she continues to be a good traveler because we have many more adventures to go on.
We decided to break the trip up on the way up since we didn't know how long she could handle in the car and we didn't know how many times we would have to stop. Since we were only driving half way we decided to stop by New Glarus Brewery. We were able to stock up on lots of tasty beer. After that we made our way to Stevens Point for the night. Lilly did great her first time in a hotel. The next day we made the rest of our trek to Washburn. We had a great time there and enjoyed some good walks and tasty food.

Lilly and Turtle at 2 Months
Lilly continues to grow like hops. She has started smiling and talking and showing a little more personality. It's really great!

Sleeping through the night
Last night Lilly slept from 10:30 until 5:00 this morning. It felt amazing. I'm not expecting this to happen every night, but I'll enjoy it when it does happen!

Growing like hops
Lilly has grown so much in the last few weeks. It seems like she's growing as fast as the hops in the back yard. She's grown out of some clothes and she's starting to grow out of her cradle. She's going to have to move to her big crib in the next few weeks.
There was definitely a night in the middle here where she decided that she hated being swaddled, so we stopped then and haven't looked back. Even after about a week we would swaddle her with her arms out because she would just wiggle them out anyway. We rolled up towels next to her because she rolled around best when swaddled, so these kept her on her back.

Lilly's first Easter!

One Month Old
When my brother and sister-in-law had my nephew, they would take his monthly picture with a giant banana. Tony and I loved that idea because you had something to compare his growth to. (Thanks Scott and Brandee for the idea!) Before Lilly was even a growing critter in my belly we decided that if we ever had kids we wanted to do the same thing. When we found out that we were having a baby, one of the first things we did was look for a fun giant stuffed animal. We looked online for a fews days and finally came across a large turtle. We had the turtle purchased and in our house before we even told people that we were expecting.
Since we have had the turtle we have been trying to come up with names for him/her but we recently decided that we will let Lilly name the turtle when she's ready. Our plan is to take pictures of Lilly with the turtle on her month birthday until she reaches age 1. After that we'll take her picture by the turtle every year on her birthday until she's at least 18.
Our first month with Lilly has been great. I have kind of adjusted to getting up at all hours of the day to feed her. She's starting to sleep longer at night (4-5 hours in a row!) She only seems to cry when she is hungry. She has had a couple poop explosions so far that have resulted in poop sprayed everywhere. She lost her umbilical cord 2 weeks after she was born in the bathroom at Triptych.
Lilly has been out on the town many times already. She has been on many walks and loves her carrier. She has been out to dinner, to Target, the mall, the grocery store, Triptych, and both of our places of employment.
She is doing really great holding her head up. She can hold it up off of our chests and look around for about a minute. We look at her eyes every day and guess what color they will end up being. Right now we're both leaning toward hazel. She is also much more alert when she is awake than she used to be.
We're excited to see what changes and excitement month number 2 will bring.
